Hi everbody, this week's discussion is about Dystonia. Dystonia is a neurological movement disorder which for alot of people is one of their RSD symptoms. Dystonia is an involuntary muscle contraction which will put the affected part of the body in an abnormal posture and is frequently very painful. This can affect any part of the body including arms and legs, trunk ,neck, eyelids, face, or vocal chords. I have it in my upper arm on the right side. That muscle has been contracted since I was hurt three years ago and continues to be to this day. It is very painful and nothing relieves it or will make it go away. Does anyone else have this? In my case there is a dent in my arm from the muscle being contracted. I also have muscle spasms from the RSD. This is a symptom that alot of people with RSD experience. The spasms can happen anywhere in the body. I have had them under my ribcage, in my thighs, arms, hands, and feet. They feel alot like a charlie horse and can last minutes, hours, or days. For some people they can be rolling like up or down a leg or arm. This might be similiar to your experience or it may not, everyone is different. I would love to have your input, so feel free to add your experiences with dystonia or muscle spasms to this post.
Robyn I love you
