Hi RObyn
I didnt look up the web sites but I do remember reading something about what you are talking about. What I wonder though is why when scientists try to find cures for all these diseases such as cancer no one really works hard to find us cures. I often wonder if they dont think this is all in our heads as if I hadnt gotten this myself and have all these crazy symptoms I would find it a little hard to believe it when someone would talk about being on fire from the pain. Actually it feels more like being frostbitten but still,we all have so much going on in our bodies from the rsd. You dont see hardly any tv shows about it. Its just so sad as this is so serious. It would be wonderful to wake up some day and this all be gone. And we would all be the way we used to be.I am 100 percent positive I dont imagine none of this, this is all real.No one understands except us people who have it ourselves.I think people with rsd should be on talk shows. Then maybe more people will be educated about what our lives are like.Gentle hugs. Liz

HI ROBYN,
I WAS JUST ONLINE LOOKING UP THINGS ABOUT RSD AND CAME ACROSS THE STORY OF THE YOUNG GIRL WHO HAD THIS HYPERBARIC OXYGEN TREATMENT, ON WHAT I GUESS IS THE COMPANIES WEBSITE. IT DOES SOUND PRETTY INTERESTING, I JUST WONDER IF THE FDA HAS APPROVED IT HERE?? I WOULD BET THAT THEY HAVEN'T THEY ALWAYS FIND REASONS NOT TO LET US HAVE TREATMETNS THAT COULD BE POTENTIONLY "LIVE SAVING" FOR US.

Hi Eileen
I really do think if the people doing all the research actually had rsd themselves they would try harder to get us treatments that would make our lives normal again. My life hasnt beent the same since I broke my wrist over 2 yrs ago.Sometimes anymore I dont even want to get out of bed. But I do.Its just another day of pain and worry about what I will do as I have no job or no money coming on. I will do like my lawyer says.Try to find something.BUT I WILL NEVER NEVER WORK IN HORRIBLE PAIN AGAIN LIKE I DID BEFORE.I just cant.Im too tired Eileen.Im just drained.
Love and gentle hugs.

Hi Everyone,
This week I thought it would be interesting to find out more about RSD and the use of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy as a treatment. I have heard of this many times but really personally only know a little about it, so I figured we could check it out together. While I was reading through some of the information I did learn that the FDA is slow to do any testing to pass the therapy for off label uses because there really isn't any dollar value in it for them. Let's look at it this way they aren't going to make much money off of oxygen where if it was a drug that is a totally different story. Now what I am still wondering is do the insurance companies pay for this treatment ? Well the answer there I guess would depend on whether they want to pull the "oh that's considered experimental" card or not.I think it is worth looking at if they would pay for it that is. The treatments aren't cheap so you really would want to make sure they are being covered since a session will run you between $100.00 and $2,000.00 in the United States. In the United Kingdom they are financed by the National Health Center but there are nonprofit HBOT chambers such as those run by Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centers.First lets look back at where this therapy first started.......
What is the history behind it?
In the early 1900s, Orville Cunningham noticed that people with some heart diseases did better if they lived closer to sea level rather than at high altitudes. He successfully treated a colleague with influenza who was near death due to lung restriction, and later developed a hyperbaric chamber. After his attempts to use HBOT to treat a host of other conditions failed, the method was abandoned and his chamber was scrapped.
HBOT chambers were developed by the military in the 1940s to treat deep-sea divers who suffered from decompression sickness. In the 1950s, HBOT was first used during heart and lung surgery. In the 1960s, HBOT was used for carbon monoxide poisoning, and has since been studied and used for a number of health-related applications. It has been the subject of a great deal of controversy because there is a lack of scientific proof to support many of the other uses for which it is suggested.
Here are several links for sites full of information about HBOT.....

Well I learned alot about HBOT and hope this helps to answer any questions you all might have. I would love to hear any comments or experiences you have with RSD and HBOT and you can add them to this post.
Love,
Robyn
