DESCRIPTION OF RSD/CRPS TYPE I AND CRPS TYPE II

This is a section that has undergone extensive renovation based on all of the new evidence recently unearthed regarding RSD/CRPS. mainly the findings that

A) We now have learned that there IS nerve damage for RSD/CRPS Type I when there was thought to be no defining nerve damage before.

B) Partly because of A, we now have a test for patients with RSD/CRPS Type I , so that they can confirm the presence of both types of RSD/CRPS now!

Over the last week I have re-written most of this section and tried to put the information from these findings in layman's terms. Not always easy given the nature of the medical terminology.

There have been so many questions about the name confusion surrounding RSD in the last couple of years.

- Is there a difference between RSDS and CRPS?

- What are the differences between RSDS and CRPS?

- Which is the right term then?

- Why is a there a Type I and Type II and what is the difference?

It is a very confusing situation for many of us.

I think it is fairly well explained there. I hope it is anyway!
