CONGRESSIONAL HEARING ON PAIN
TAKE ACTION NOW!
Congress will be holding a hearing on Pain In America in the Fall, 2005. Chairman Nathan Deal (R-GA) committed to a hearing in his Health Subcommittee in the House. This is an extraordinary opportunity to gain support in Congress for increased attention and investment in pain. It is an opportunity to lay before Congress the facts about the epidemic of pain in America and the challenges people affected by pain face in getting appropriately assessed and treated for their pain. It is an opportunity to argue for improving access to appropriate pain care and to identify all of the barriers people face when trying to find help for their pain. It is an opportunity to argue for increased investment in pain research so that we have treatment answers for the many pain conditions. It is an opportunity for Congress to hear about the devastating effects the War on Drugs is having on pain patients access to helpful medicines. This hearing will raise awareness within the nation's leadership about pain and will stimulate effective action to address the many problems confronting people living with pain. ></SCRIPT>
This hearing will be able to propel the National Pain Care Policy Act, H.R. 1020, to full consideration by Congress.
TAKE ACTION NOW by writing a letter to all of the members of the Health Subcommittee. It's important, it's easy, it's your life and the lives of millions of others.
